Buttermilk Creek drops 600 feet as it plunges through a gorge down the eastern slope of the Cayuga Valley at the southernmost edge of the City of Ithaca. This is one of six trails featured in the park that wander through a remarkable variety of landscapes. The Lake Treman Trail offers a shelter and a link to the Finger Lakes Trail Spur. There are excellent opportunities for viewing wildlife in the surrounding hillside woodlands. NOTE: THE EAST SIDE OF THIS TRAIL IS CLOSED IN WINTER
